Wow, what a year it's been since the last SFT UK national conference! The Olympics seemed so far away when we were talking about them in Bristol last year, since then SFT have been at the forefront of Tibet campaigning, leading the way with actions in the heart of Beijing and across the globe. We've seen collaborations and successes within the Tibet movement like never before, a truly historic time for us all.
This is an experience that will enrich us as we approach March 2009 and the anniversary of 50 years of what has become known as Uprising Day, March 10th 1959. Last year March 10th marked the start of a second uprising, a call from Tibetans inside Tibet that after 50 years of occupation and stifling repression they were still fighting. For 50 years the Chinese Government have battled to silence Tibet and for 50 years they have solidly failed. March 10th 2009 is time for action after so many years.
This year the SFT UK national conference has a tagline, 'be inspired...' We chose this because it's what we hope you feel after the actions of SFT and the whole Tibetan Movement during August this year. It's also what we're sure you will be feeling after this year's conference.
The conference is in Leeds, it's the perfect chance for you meet the new SFT UK board and Tibet supporters from across the country and the perfect place to inspire those new to the Tibet Movement into taking a more leading role in the future. The conference is on 1st/2nd of November and more information can be found on the SFT UK website - www.sftuk.org/cms/content/view/39/37/
Please do help us make this conference the best yet, tell others who might like to attend. To book you place email SFT UK at the address on the flyer with who you are, your contact details and what university, group or town you affiliate with.
